While walking between workshop participants scattered along the beach, this photo was taken with my Olympus TG-4 compact camera. We’ll be heading back to Lord Howe Island in May 2017.
In summer we don’t only see the bears on ice. Sometimes they’re standing on solid ground. This bear was photographed on the island of Edgeøya in Svalbard. We hope to return to this location in June this year on our next Arctic photo workshop.
During our 2015 Lord Howe Island photography workshop (run by David Burren and Michael Snedic) there were many opportunities for in-flight shots of seabirds. We’re taking another group back there in May 2017. Bookings are open now!
This image was made in December 2015, in a location we will visit on our December 2016 Subantarctic photo workshop.
Some of these Crabeater Seals are white, some brownish, some grey. This one was doing its best to ignore us as we drifted nearby in our Zodiac. Taken near Danco Island in Anarctica’s Errera Channel during our 2016 Antarctic photo workshop. Click on the image for a larger version.
During a bout of rain on Australia’s Macquarie Island, a Royal Penguin hunches over its chick on its nest. They’re much cleaner when they come back from a swim! We will be returning to Macquarie Island with another photo workshop this December.
Near Petermann Island, these seals were just taking it easy during our 2016 Antarctic photo workshop.
